“it looks absolutely fantastic every time”

It has been almost one year since DYNAMIK Sport and Tarkett became the Official Sports Flooring Partners to the BBL. As part of this new alliance, the companies gifted three lucky BBL Clubs with new DYNAMIK Portable Rollout courts.

One of the recipients to receive a new basketball court was BBL Club the Sheffield Sharks, delivered to their venue at Ponds Forge, in Sheffield. The Sheffield Sharks are a professional basketball that compete in the top tier basketball league, the BBL. The Sharks are one of the most decorated teams in BBL history, boasting 14 different league titles.

Managing director of the Sheffield Sharks, Sarah Bachovic, had a few words to say about how much the support from Tarkett and DYNAMIK – the Sports Flooring Collaboration – has helped the club this past year.

DYNAMIK are renowned for being flamboyant in their bespoke court designs but this week, the onsite installation team certainly painted the town red in Eastleigh Town to be precise. The school wanted to create an inspiring, bright new court and chose to steer away from the typical blues, greens, or greys of most sports floors.

We installed the DYNAMIK “Komfort Plus” sprung system finished in a solid, non-pad based Polyurethane (PU) playing surface. The surface is a seamless sprung floor that has high indentation resistance and durability when used for exams or non-sporting events. Moreover, since it’s a DYNAMIK sprung floor, it ticks the multi-sports performance box as well.

Senior Site Manager for Crestwood School, Alan Hussey had this to say: “Really pleased with the finish, your team are a credit to your company.”

As a leading British manufacturer of indoor sports flooring and walling solutions, DYNAMIK were chosen to supply the sprung sports and dance flooring, acoustic interior wall panels and carpet tile protection for a prestigious new sports hall at Bishopsgate School, an Independent School based in Englefield Green, Egham.

The DYNAMIK design team worked with architects, main contractor and the school directly to provide a solution that created a single point of contact for floors and walls. The result was a sports hall environment that worked acoustically whilst also meeting the criteria for sports and dance performance.

Due to the school catering for young children (ages 3-13) a comfort-based sprung system was offered. Children which interact with a playing surface during low-impact activities, rather than playing high impact sports, require a safe, high-comfort based sprung system. This type of system provides high levels of shock absorption and can compress under load easily, giving that feeling of comfort that normally is associated with foam backed vinyl or soft pad based surfaces.

The DYNAMIK “Komfort Plus” sprung system, finished in a solid sports vinyl, was chosen as the ideal solution. It provided the sports and dance performance, but also due to its solid, non-foam backed playing surface, was also able to offer high levels of indentation resistance and enhanced long term durability.

Non-sporting school events also needed to be accommodated, therefore the DYNAMIK “Giant Carpet Tiles” were included within the client requirements. When installed, the tiles create an enhanced acoustic benefit and a feeling of luxury in addition to the comfort provided by the DYNAMIK sprung floor.

One of DYNAMIK’s first projects of 2021 was at Fulneck Independent School in Pudsey, West Yorkshire.

Before Fulneck School sought the help of DYNANIK Sport, their school sports hall floor had an old timber surface in much need of some board repairs and a full sand and re-seal. They were looking for a new and improved sports surface to freshen up the school hall and transform their indoor space without floor board gaps or the need to sand and seal in the future.  As the hall was used intensively for both sporting and non-sporting activities, they needed a playing surface that was solid, without foam or pad backing and a surface that did not require the use of giant carpet-tile protection to avoid indentation or point load damage

DYNAMIK’s Solution

For this reason, DYNAMIK overlaid the old timber school sports floor with a Herculan seamless Polyethylene (PU) playing surface. We advocate the benefits of solid synthetic surfaces for exceptional durability, high resistance to indentation and the clean look of a seamless installation, which in the case of Fulneck School, was far more suitable and a big improvement than their old timber floor.

Why choose a Solid Seamless Polyurethane (PU) for your Sports Floor?

When combined with a DYNAMIK sprung A3 or A4 area elastic undercarriage or base there are several reasons for selecting a solid seamless polyurethane (PU) synthetic surface:

• Clean, tactile, seamless finish with a bright modern look.
• Highly resistant to spillages as the surface is seamless without gaps and non-absorbent.
• No foam or pad backing ideal for non-sporting activities and equipment. usage.
• Lower life-cycle maintenance costs and easy  to clean or spot repair.
• Lower life-cycle costs as no need for frequent sanding, sealing or re-lacquering.
• Surface protection  not required for non-sport usage

Results

Since the project’s completion, the school are very pleased with the results. Ryan Walker, Director of Sport at Fulneck School, had this to say:

“We have been so excited about having new flooring in the East Gym to enhance and develop our indoor sports facilities at Fulneck School. As official sports flooring partner to England Netball, DYNAMIK are proud to have been a part of the England Netball Club Grant competition. We are glad to have been able to support England Netball and its clubs during a difficult year for the sport. Seeing and going through more than 200 entries since the start of the competition has been brilliant, and thank-you for sharing all of your stories…

But there must be a winner! And DYNAMIK are proud to announce that Grangetown Netball Club are our lucky winners!

We at DYNAMIK chose this club because it was great seeing how much the club has been keeping its members active has been throughout 2020, be it raising money for charity, home training programs, cake bakes and quizzes! It’s fantastic to see how much you’ve been supporting each other during lockdown. We hope this grant can go towards supporting the clubs’ members throughout 2021!
