Sport England’s Case Study Showcases Dynamik’s Arena Floor System

A new case study by Sport England exhibits Worcester University’s huge 2,200m2 sports hall and illustrates how with careful design it can cater to a wide variety of users and sporting requirements.

‘The University of Worcester Arena project demonstrates how a rationalised design can serve increased community involvement whilst meeting rigorous standards for competitive league sport at national level’.

The hall not only serves the University and its surrounding area but local sports clubs such as Worcestershire County Cricket Club, West Bromwich Albion FC, Aston Villa FC and Birmingham City FC have benefited from the facility.

The hall was also designed to meet international sporting standards, allowing the facility to host prestigious events such as the Wheelchair Basketball European Championships along with international and Premier League netball matches.

The floor of choice for the ambitious project was Dynamik’s Helsinki 10-10 system which is widely regarded as a leading sports floor system for the arena market. Not only can the floor withstand high loadings from bleacher seating and heavy portable equipment but the fully supported construction offers high performance and consistent ball bounce across the entire surface.

Dynamik Portable Floor To Host More Events After Success Of Eurobasket Qualifiers

The new Dynamik portable floor provided a sporting spectacle during the Eurobasket Qualifiers earlier this year and Basketball England are now looking for the system to host other national and international events.

The floor is not only suitable for top-level basketball competitions but many other indoor sports such as wheelchair basketball, volleyball and netball.

“Having affordable access to a portable court and equipment allows us to create a basketball court in any indoor space, increasing the options to create innovative events and also providing us with the equipment to create great national finals and bid for – and host – international basketball games” explained Peter Griffiths, Basketball England’s Facilities Manager, said.

Griffiths added that a sports floor with only the basketball line markings visible is required for Basketball England’s national finals, FIBA international games and televised events.

Westfield Academy’s Unique Inflatable Sports Dome Complete

As one of the UK’s leading suppliers and installers of sports flooring Dynamik are no strangers to unique and spectacular sports structures. Our latest project at Westfield Academy however is one of the most extraordinary sports facilities we have seen in a long time.

Not content with a newly refurbished sports hall, 3G football pitch and floodlit netball & tennis courts, Westfield Academy recently decided to add to their sports facility portfolio with a 900m2 inflatable dome.

The choice of floor for the specially constructed sports dome was Dynamik’s London system as it could be quickly packed and levelled, therefore eliminating the need for an expensive screed. Once installed the London system was finished with a durable sport Linoleum which not only offered easy long-term maintenance but optimum sports performance.

This recently completed project has allowed the Academy to offer Sport England and NGB compliant Basketball, Netball, Handball and Volleyball courts to both pupils and the local community.

Westfield Academy is just one of over 80 sports floors supplied and installed so far this year, with many more unique and exciting projects planned for the near future.
