Lime Kiln Leisure Centre
GT40 Rubber Gym Tiles + Sled/Prowler Track
Lime Kiln Leisure Centre: Gym Flooring Upgrade
Wiltshire local authority, owners of Lime Kiln Leisure Centre,
wanted to upgrade the flooring in the free weights area of the
gym with a durable, cost-effective solution. Their objective was to
find an environmentally sound system robust enough to
withstand dropped heavy free weights and protect the structural
floor beneath, while also creating an adhesive-free sled track
area that could be easily reconfigured in future.
GT40 rubber tiles, made from recycled rubber granules
recovered from worn truck tyres, provided an environmentally
responsible solution. Their superfine granular construction
improves strength and makes the tiles easier to keep clean, while
also offering a robust platform capable of absorbing drop
impacts from heavy Olympic free weights, protecting the
structural floor beneath, and reducing impact sound
transmission through the structure.
To complement this, Multi-Flex TR25i sled/prowler interlocking
track was installed to create full flexibility across the space. Unlike
adhesive-bonded track, which incurs costly refitting when
layouts change, this system can be extended or repositioned in
future with minimal disruption or expense.
The finished gym floor is adhesive-free, fully flexible, and robust –
delivering a high-performance training environment for the
centre’s members, with the freedom to evolve as needs change.
