Sheffield hosts the only international world class performance Wheelchair Basketball tournament in Britain. This five day competition takes place in the Sports Arena at the English Institute of Sport (EIS).

Many great memories were made at the DYNAMIK Schools Basketball Championships 2018 with teams experiencing the best in basketball facilities at the National Performance Basketball Centre in Manchester.

Friday saw the energy build with schools across the country taking part in the U12s Celebration Day through to a full weekend of the DYNAMIK National Basketball Finals.

DYNAMIK installed the purpose built sprung flooring at Belle Vue Sports Village which is home to Basketball England, the National Governing Body for Basketball in England.

 As their Official Sports Flooring Partner, DYNAMIK has contributed to grass roots sport in terms of gifting sports equipment to local schools and basketball clubs as well as being headline sponsors of the National Schools Basketball Championships, donating winners t-shirts, medals and plaques.

David Butler, Delivery Director at Basketball England said, “This event is a great opportunity for schools and players to come to this fantastic facility and it really shows the breadth of school’s basketball across the country. With teams from Torquay through to Harrogate, it’s great to see so many children playing the game and enjoying themselves.”

DYNAMIK’s partners, Basketball England, originally set up an U12 league with FIBA Funding last season for school children under the age of 12, as there was a need to add a tier due to the youngest age group (U14) catering only for Y7, Y8 and Y9 students.

In order to bridge the gap and try to get secondary schools involved from an earlier age, they trialled a new format and added this new age group.

Gail Richards from Basketball England said: “The idea is, there isn’t a national winner, but a celebration day, where all teams come together and enjoy the sport, playing multiple games across courts. It was a great first experience last year and this year forms part of the DYNAMIK National Schools Competition.”

Basketball England hope to raise the profile of this popular sport and give the players a good experience in basketball at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester.

With this in mind DYNAMIK are pleased to support these young players by donating t-shirts for every player who takes part in the U12 Schools Celebration Day this May.

When you think of a church, do you think of a sports floor? Not really. Yet deep in the city lies an architectural delight housing one of the most modern of features – a DYNAMIK area elastic sports floor.

Greenhouse Sports were gifted an impressive building from a generous long-time supporter, and with vision and determination have turned it into a community hub. The former Christ Church, located at the junction of Cosway Street and Bell Street in Marylebone, is a grade II* listed building and lies within the Lisson Grove Conservation Area. The building was deconsecrated in the late 1970’s and was then used as offices from the 1980’s.

Greenhouse Sports uses inspirational sports coaching and mentoring to engage young people and improve their life chances. The Centre provides a new base for them to maximise their outreach and impact.

You will have heard by now that England Netball made history this week at the Commonwealth Games. The inspirational women’s team played with passion and grit to win Gold in the last few seconds of the game.
