Lime Kiln Leisure Centre: Gym Flooring Upgrade

The Challenge

Wiltshire local authority, owners of Lime Kiln Leisure Centre, wanted to upgrade the flooring in the cardio gym area to create a modern ambience, using a durable, flexible flooring solution. Their objective was to find an environmentally sound option that offered flexibility for the future. Specifically, they needed a solution that avoided the costly subfloor preparation involved in uplifting the existing floor, and that prevented adhesive-contaminated flooring waste from going to landfill.

The Solution

Magna-Flex’s magnetic LVT system allowed the centre to install a high-performance, modern-looking floor without uplifting the existing one. The magnetically receptive MagnaLay underlay was simply loose-laid over the existing floor, and the Magna-Flex magnetic LVT tiles were then held securely in place by magnetic force.

The Result

The new floor eliminated the need to send flooring waste to landfill and gave Wiltshire Council a flexible solution built for the future. The system also offers a lasting benefit: when the facility is next ready for an upgrade, the tiles can simply be lifted, and new magnetic tiles fixed directly to the existing MagnaLay underlay – creating a genuinely circular flooring solution.

Through this approach, Wiltshire Council reduced costs and waste while fully meeting their environmental objectives.
